"You're wearing it. The necklace I gave you." He said with a small dragonish grin.
"Wait a second, YOU were the one who ruined my life?!" I felt anger rise within me for I now knew who was responsible for everything. "I can't believe this! I had a whole life ahead of me and you came and took it all away!"
"Look on the brighter side of things, your life is now longer then it was before and you now have more room in your mind to absorb more knowledge and wisdom then ever before."
I tried to get up and rip his heart out but I was still too weak to even move my tail. He looked at me with a calm look in his eyes that made me want to tear at him even more. I released a low growl that was on the verge of snarling as I watched him with hatred. As I heard him sigh, he grabbed something that looked long and sharp.
"So what are you going to do with him Firo?" I heard Flaireonette ask. I wasn't mad at her because she was just brought into all of this by the mastermind behind this deed.
"I'll be taking care of him until he can stand on his own, after that he should be less dependent on me and learn how to control himself better around the others. But for right now, I'll be needing some blood and spinal fluid samples to see if everything went the way it should've in his body when it changed."
As he said the word "blood" my eyes widened to the size of a dinnerplate and I desperately tried to get away from the needle that he had in his paws. THAT THING IS FREAKING HUGE!!! I almost wailed as I thought that he was going to use it now but it turned out that he was looking for something.
Flaireonette noticed my fear and asked, "What's up with you? You look like you've seen a ghost."
I saw her look at the needle that I was staring at and then back to me. She looked back and forth for a couple seconds before realizing what I was so tense about. She chuckled and I gave her the I'm-Going-To-Kill-You-If-You-Do-That-Again look. "If you laugh one more time then I swear that once I get better I'm going to-" I was interrupted as I felt a very painful feeling as the needle that Firo put into my back started taking a sample of my spinal fluid. I could not believe that he would give me no warning that he was going to do it.
"Almost done..." I heard him say as I was rendered speechless and unable to breathe from the pain. "Ok that's one down, only two more containers to go."
I gasped for a few seconds before yelling, "You could have at least warned me before you were going to do that!!!"
"I did warn you but you were too busy yelling at Flaireonette to hear. Well anyway, you ready? Here comes the other two containers." He filled up the other containers from a different place on my spine for each one and I was glad the hard part was over with. Taking several containers full of blood, I was getting tired from lack of blood. "Alright that's it for today, you can rest now for tomorrow brings another number of tests."
"What about the phrase I've been told to not let the humans experiment on me?" I asked tiredly.
"These are only tests, you'll be released when they're all done unlike the humans who will hold onto you your whole life."
"But why are you doing this while I'm just starting to recover from a fall?"
Firo seemed silent for a while before sighing. "I suppose I should tell you when the time is right."
"I want to know now!" I knew that I couldn't yell too much after everything that has happened but I couldn't help it, I needed to know.
"As you wish." He looked like he was deep in thought before he spoke again. "We're kind of in a tough situation right now as many peoples of dragons have been searching for one living being who hasn't thrown out their inner self but since one was found, mainly you, every country has been trying to get their claws on you."
"There are countries of other dragons?"
"Yes. The one we're in is like the United States of America in the human world. But back to business. Every country is trying to get their claws on you, except for Hengleeria who's neutral. They have offered currency, laws, bills, giving up slavery, everything you could possibly imagine to get to you but we won't and can't give you up. You have too much that we can learn about. Now, if you will be so kind, I'm going to be late for an appointment with a client. He left with the containers as he walked deeper into the cave.
"Is there anything you need before I go as well?" Flaireonette asked.
"What happened to my stuff?"
"Oh that small green pack that you had with you?"
"Yes..."
"I threw it away."
"WHAT!!!" I yelled while forgetting that I was in no condition to yell and ended up wasting some energy.
"I'm just kidding, sheesh." She grabbed something from around a stalagmite and pulled it up. "I hope you don't mind me snooping through your stuff earlier. I didn't know that you came from a dragon family."
"A what?"
"You family members were dragons weren't they?"
"No, why would you say that?" My fear was growing as she picked through my stuff to find the pictures.
"Here we go! See?" She held up the pictures for me to see and I nearly fainted. Where my family and home was supposed to be were three large dragons and a cave. I was still human in it, however. My heart was beating faster as my fear had been acnoledged as it became this world's version of my home and family.
"Well at least I'm still human in thi-" I fainted this time as the image of me disappeared and was replaced by my dragon self.
"I think that was a bit much for him to handle..." I heard a voice say to my left.
"I suppose that I should have warned him about that as well." Another voice stated.
"Yeah but he does look kind of cute sleeping there." My ears perked up as the voice said this.
"So it looks like he's waking up."
CRAP!!! I opened my eyes and saw the two dragons as I felt a soreness in my legs and saw four small containers filled up with bone marrow.
"So how are you feeling?" Firo asked.
"Sore..."
"Well, you're going to have to get used to it for the next couple of days as we have some more tests that will include sticking things into you. After that we move on to the machines to look at you."
"Gee, I feel much better." I said sarcastically. Will this ever be finished?
"I'm afraid that I must leave now, goodbye." He left as if he was in a hurry to be somewhere as he almost forgot the bone marrow.
I sighed. "When will this end?! First I get changed into a dragon, then I end up being sucked through a black hole, then I get knocked out and almost fall to my death and forget my human name, and finally after I get needles jabbed into me and find out that the pictures that I brought of me to remember my family get turned into this world's version of them! What else could possibly go wrong!?!"
"Um... Try reading this letter that was in there. I can't seem to read it." Flaireonette put the letter that I first read when I got the necklace on the ground in front of me.
"Why?"
"Just read it!"
"Ok... It reads:
Dear Lance,
I hope you like this because-" I gulped as the words became foreign to my eyes.
"Because what?"
"I can't read it..."
"What do you mean 'I can't read it?' You were just reading it a second ago!"
"I can't believe it... I CAN'T READ OR WRITE IN MY NATIVE LANGUAGE ANYMORE!!!" I wanted to cry but my tears were all dried up.
"Well I also found some things in there that you should know about as well..." Her voice was full of concern. "I found a toy dragon in there that I suppose didn't look like it used to."
"C-can I see it?"
"Sure but when I first saw it I thought you were a somewhat narcissistic dragon but after I realized what you were going through I thought that you should see it." She pulled it out and it did look different. It showed more detail in it and it looked exactly like me in terms of coloring.
"It looks exactly like I thought it did when I was younger... Exactly like it did in my dreams and fantasies when I pretended that I was on adventures with it..."
"You've probably had a long day, why don't you get some rest. I'll see you in the morning." And with that she left after putting everything back in except for Flamy who she put right next to me.
Well at least I still have you... I thought, reffering to Flamy. Maybe someday I can free my inner self from it's cage but until then... At least I still have you to remind me of it. And with that thought I fell asleep.
...poor lance...
But actually I talk about 'your' gift *grin*
Getting depressing the farther it goes.
There's gonna be a niiiiice climax.
